The Surya Namaskara Marathon

Yogacharya Bharath Shetty has returned to guide everyone through the SuryaNamaskara Marathon, which is the foundational movement through any flowing asana class. The event is open to everyone of all levels and will energize each and every part of the body. The marathon of sun salutations will cover asanas, pranayama, bandhas, kriyas, mudras, mantras and bijaaksharas in itself. These powerful movements will keep the body healthy and strong both mentally and physically.

The SuryaNamaskara creates a great balance between the body, breath and mind, while creating flowing movements in all directions. This combination of movements the can relieve a stiff back and neck, relieve a stiff body and/or heaviness in the body or mind, releases tension from the neuromuscular system, improves lung capacity, strengthens the body, increases flexibility and improves circulation.

The blend of movements helps to make sure the body is performing at its optimal level and is used as a dynamic meditation practice. This practice keeps the body active, at the same time the mind passive and the breath rhythmic. A regular practitioner doing SuryaNamaskara 10 – 15 times per day can easily see progress and discern the weaknesses in the body. The marathon will be broken down into 30, 60 or 120 rounds to accommodate all levels and to any individual comfort level.
